How to use a coworking space for free…

Okay, maybe it’s not free… but that doesn’t mean you need to pay for it! If you are a remote employee, there’s a good chance your membership can be covered by your employer. Here’s are some ways to make your case:

  1. Remote employees are more efficient and less distracted when they use a coworking space.  A study even showed that workers felt up to 84% more engaged and motivated at a coworking space.

  2. Consistent services like printing, scanning, and reliable WIFI are a basic necessity for a coworking space.  We know that if the WIFI is down, everyone else is, too, which means we work extra hard to ensure no one will ever lose signal!  The same is not always true for home internet services- especially if your roommate is hogging the bandwidth to re-watch Entourage for the 13th time.

  3. Some coworking space memberships offer 24/7 access to the office, so remote employees can work flexible hours and still get the job done. Weekend meetings, late night projects- whatever it may be! Having access to an office anytime can help remote employees get the job done.

  4. Coworking spaces like The Boardroom use a membership platform system that is used by thousands of other coworking spaces.  Our memberships are managed by Proximity Space and a member of our coworking space has the option to use another Proximity Space all around the world.  (It is limited to specific membership types, so make sure yours qualifies first!). This means even if you travel for work, there’s a chance your membership can follow you wherever you may go.

It's not a guarantee your employer can foot the bill for a coworking space, but hopefully these tidbits can help you make your case for joining a coworking space close to you! (We know a pretty great one for folks working in Anchorage, AK.)

Do you know a remote employee who needs to get out of their house a little more often?  Share this with them to drop the hint.
