FUR RONDY LIKE A LOCAL

The ceremonial start to the Iditarod Race on 4th Avenue in Downtown Anchorage.

Every year Alaska has a winter festival called Fur Rendezvous (the locals just call it Fur Rondy). For weeks, locals celebrate in unique ways leading up to the start of the historic Iditarod race.

Here are some of our members’ favorites events to attend:

Blanket Toss
Grab a blanket and send your best friend flying! An ancient Alaska Native tradition, joined the festival in 1950 and is a signature of Rondy and Alaska. (More info)

Fireworks
After a long day of parades, pups, and playing, Alaskans enjoy a spectacular fireworks display over Ship Creek. Boardroomies get the added bonus of a front row seat from our Depot location.

Curling Bonspiel
A favorite Boardroom hobby is also getting some much deserved post-Olympics love. Curlingstock 1969 is international competition over several days. (More info)

Carnival
It may be small, but it’s big fun for kids of all ages. (More info)
